Nam, Prashanth win Futures’ first match in Singapore

HÀ NỘI — Lý Hoàng Nam and his Indian partner Vijay Sundar Prashanth won the first round match at the Singapore F1 Men’s Futures tennis tournament yesterday.

The No 1 seed duo defeated Indonesia’s David Agung Susanto and Sunu Wahyu Trijati 6-2, 6-3 in a 65-minute match.

They will next play the winner of the match between Japan’s Issei Okamura and Arata Onozawa and wildcard entrants Shaheed Alam and Hao Wan Ng from Singapore.

Nam will compete in the single’s match today. Seeded No. 6, he will play against India’s Sidharth Rawat.

In other matches played yesterday, No 2 Kento Kateuchi of Japan beat Dalwinder Singh of India 6-4, 6-4; No 3 Masato Shiga, also from Japan, defeated Roy Hobs of Singapore 6-3, 6-2, and No 7 seed Rawat lost 4-6, 2-6 to Japan’s Sho Katayama.

The tournament, which is being played at Kallang Tennis Centre in Singapore, will end on Sunday, with the winner taking home US$15,000. — VNS
