HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam grabbed a gold and a bronze at the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships, which concluded yesterday in Thailand.

World Cup winner Lê Thanh Tùng triumphed in the men’s vault event yesterday.

It is the first medal for Việt Nam in men’s gymnastics at the Asian level.

Tùng overcame strong rivals to top the podium, winning his second title of the year.

He won the first title at the Qatar World Cup in March.

Athletes from South Korea and Japan came second and third, respectively.

Later, Đinh Phương Thành pocketed a bronze on the men’s parallel bars.

Chinese Zou Jingyuan topped the podium and North Korean Han Jong Ryok finished second.

With one gold and one silver, Việt Nam was placed third in the overall medals tally.

China dominated the championship with 11 gold and eight silver medals. Japan came second with two gold medals and a bronze. — VNS
