Nam wins second round at Thailand F5 Futures

HÀ NỘI — Lý Hoàng Nam came from behind to defeat Jeong Young-Hoon of South Korea in the second round of the Thailand F5 Futures in Huahin today.

Nam won 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-1 in a match that lasted two hours and three minutes.

The top Vietnamese tennis player had crushed Oleksandr Bielinskyi of Ukraine 6-0, 6-1 in just 56 minutes in the first round.

Nam will meet No 2 seed Kwon Soon Woo of South Korea, world No 335, in the next round.

However, Nam has dropped five steps from world No 653 to No 658 in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) men’s singles rankings.

Nguyễn Hoàng Thiên also dropped six steps to world No 1,432, while Trịnh Linh Giang rose six places to world No 2,052.

In the men’s doubles, Nam advanced three spots to 625, while Thiên fell three places to 787. — VNS
