HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese athletes have made a strong showing at the ongoing 18th CMAS Finswimming World Cup 2024 Round 4 in Phuket, Thailand, claiming three gold medals.
On the opening day of competitions on Friday, Việt Nam dominated the men's 100m surface event.
Nguyễn Trung Kiên took gold in a time of 35.93sec, followed by SEA Games champion Nguyễn Thành Lộc (36.37) and Đỗ Đình Toàn (36.74).
The second gold went to young Huỳnh Quốc Bảo in the boys' 12-17 year-old 1.500m surface. He finished first in a time of 13min 19.78sec.
His female teammates were suberb in the girls' category taking all top three positions.
Nguyễn Trần San San topped the podium timing 14:19.12. She was followed by Hồ Ngọc Tường Lam and Huỳnh Lê Thanh.
Vietnamese competitors also took seven silvers and four bronzes in other categories.
Việt Nam have 34 athletes at the World Cup, taking part in almost all events for seniors and juniors
As many as 200 athletes of 22 teams take part in this tournament, vying for official slots at the World Games 2025.
