Vietnamese wushu athletes take world taijiquan championship titles

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam won four medals from the World Taijiquan Championships 2024 on August 28 in Singapore.

Nguyễn Khắc Lê Hoàng made it a double, topping the men's simplified 24 movements taijiquan and simplified 32 movements taijijian events.

Nguyễn Trọng Lâm secured his title in the men's third set taijiquan (39 movements).

Nguyễn Thanh Vân triumphed in the women's simplified 24 movements taijiquan.

The Vietnamese athletes also bagged four silvers and seven bronzes. The result placed Việt Nam number four in the medal tally.

Hong Kong topped the ranking with 11 golds, followed by China with ten golds and the hosts with five medals.

The world championships is a world-class taiji competition aimed at providing a platform for elite taiji athletes from around the globe to exchange ideas and skills.

"In this fourth edition, hundreds of strongest competitors from 32 countries and regions gathered to perform. Việt Nam's eight martial artists tried their best to bring home medals," said leader of Việt Nam Team Vũ Văn Trung, praising the efforts of his athletes and coaches in Singapore. VNS
