Việt Nam aims for a high result at 22nd ASEAN+ Age-group Chess Championships

One hundred and twenty masters of Việt Nam will compete at the 22nd ASEAN+ Age-group Chess Championships 2024 on August 21-31 in Vientiane, Laos.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will send 120 masters to compete at the 22nd ASEAN+ Age-group Chess Championships 2024.

The tournament featuring nine countries of the region, along with New Zealand and Russia, will be held from August 21-31 in Vientiane, Laos.

Players will take part in standard, blitz and rapid chess events in groups ranging from U6 to U20 and seniors under 50.

Việt Nam will have representatives in all categories. Among them are Women's Chess Master (WCM) Nguyễn Minh Chi (Girls' 12), WCM Đặng Lê Xuân Hiền (G14), WCM Tôn Nữ Quỳnh Dương (G16), WCM Nguyễn Lê Cẩm Hiền (G18), Women's International Master (WIM) Nguyễn Thiên Ngân (G20), FIDE Master (FM) Đinh Nho Kiệt (U16), Candidate Master Đầu Khương Duy (U18) and FM Phạm Trần Gia Phúc (U20).

Currently, they are competing at the National Top Masters Championships in Hải Phòng.

They will leave for Laos next week with an ambition of making the podium in as many classes as possible.

After the regional tournament, Vietnamese masters will remain in Vientiane for the third Laos International Chess Open 2024 from September 1-6. VNS
