Press Marathon offers journalists an exclusive way to improve their health

HÀ NỘI — Five hundred reporters dashed to the finish line at the 2024 Press Marathon, on June 30 Hưng Yên Province's Ecopark urban area.

The third edition of the race, which was held by the Vietnam ICT Press Club, was an activity to celebrate the Việt Nam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21) and free for all participants.

The event aimed to create a playground and bring challenges to athletes working in the journalism industry. It was also to show gratitude to reporters, journalists and workers on their day and encourage them to work harder and better, while improving their health and spreading positive spirit and energy to the community.

After three seasons, the running received huge response from organisations and saw an increasing number of runners, making it one of the largest sport festivals for journalists.

This year runners could compete over three distances of 5km, 10km and 21.6km.

"It is a great morning when we run in the fresh and green environment at the Ecopark where we also overcome challenging running track," said Phạm Đình Thắng of Tiền Phong Newspaper.

"We have to wake up early in the morning but it is worth it. We 'destroyed' a little fat and enjoyed the atmosphere as well as feeling life's vitality."

Bùi Lượng of Việt Nam Sports Magazine said it was his second time with in the race. He ran over the 10km distance and although he did not make the podium he was really excited to complete his time goal.

After the race, organisers presented medals and bonuses to the winning runners and said they hoped to see them in the 2025 season. — VNS
