 NINH BÌNH -- HCM City defended their U18 title after beating Ninh Bình 2-0 in the final match of the National Junior Team Tennis Championship which closed on June 9 in Ninh Bình Province.

Hà Nội and the Military shared the third position. It was the last event of the annual competition.

“I am happy winning the boys' U18 gold medal. I hope to continue with my team to successfully defend this championship next year," said Huỳnh Thắng Quốc Khang.

Meanwhile his teammate Võ Quốc Lâm said it was his second time visiting Ninh Bình, a place famous for many beautiful landscapes. He would take time to experience more about the culture and cuisine before coming home.

It was the third gold of HCM City after they also won in the girls' U14 and U18 classes.

Other winning team were Hà Nội 1 (boys' U12), Ninh Bình 1 (girls' U12), the Military (boys' U14 and girls' U16), and HCM City 1 (boys' U16).

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Ninh Bình's Deputy Director of Culture and Sports Department said: "After this first successful season, we will continue to coordinate with the Việt Nam Tennis Federation to coorganise national and international tournaments in our home town. Hopefully, there are more competitions to be organised from now until the end of 2024." VNS
