Basketball, badminton continue at Schools Games

ĐÀ NẴNG — Filipino boys beat Indonesia 65-57 in the Group A basketball match at the ASEAN Schools Games on June 2.

This is the second win for the Philippines after their earlier 78-62 win against Thailand in the opening match.

In the other match in group C on the same day, Thailand’s girls’ team beat the Philippines 83-78, grabbing the second win at the games.

Vietnamese girls’ team tasted their first win at the games after edging Malaysia 86-84, while the boys’ team eased past Brunei 128-23.

The games also featured athletics, pencak silat, swimming and vovinam. Teams taking part are from Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Việt Nam at the Mường Thanh Hotel.

Badminton matches also started at Sơn Trà Sports Centre.

Athletics will see contenders competing for the first medals in girl’s 3,000m and boys’ long jump at the Hoà Xuân Stadium on June 3.

The 400m hurdles and 100m sprint, shot-put and high-jump will take place in the afternoon.

Swimming will start start qualifications in the morning at aquatic club in Tiên Sơn Sports Centre. VNS
