HÀ NỘI - Phạm Trung Hòa and Nguyễn Mỹ Trang will represent Việt Nam at the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) World Championship Latin Senior II in Bremen, Germany, on June 1-2.

About 200 dancers from many countries and regions will take part in the WDSF's largest event of the year, in which one dancer must be over 45 while his/her partner is over 40.

Hòa and Trang, currently 110 in the world ranking, are one of four teams from Asia along with Japan, the Philipines and Hong Kong. They will take part in five Latin dances Samba, Chacha, Rumba, Pasodoble and Jive.

Trang said the team was well-prepared for the tournament.

"We set our target. However, I believe that other goals are more important than final results," said Trang.

"It is how to overcome our limit and get as much experience as possible from each competition so that we could improve ourselves better."

Deputy director of the Sports Authority of Việt Nam Lê Thị Hoàng Yến said: "This is an opportunity for Vietnamese athletes to integrate into international competition; exchange and contribute to the development of dancesports.

"At the same time, they would help spread the love of sports and dancesports and inspire people to practice sports at all ages."

Hòa is an athlete and coach with 18 years of experience in dancesports. He is the director of the VietsDance Centre in Hà Nội. Businesswoman Trang is one of his athletes who has danced for more than seven years. She took part in the first pro competition in August 2022.

During their two years working together, Hòa and Trang claimed a number of local and international medals such as four silvers from an open event in Malaysia in 2022, three bronze medals at the same event in 2023 and gold in the WDSF Senior II in 2023 in Việt Nam.
