HÀ NỘI -- Diego Giustozzi said his players tried their best in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup's quarter-final loss to Kyrgyzstan and was sorry for not earning the third World Cup spot in a row.

Việt Nam were defeated 3-2 on April 26 at the Hua Mark Indoor Arena, Bangkok, Thailand.

Giustozzi said Việt Nam played well in the first half, sometimes showing better performance than the Kyrgyz side. The second half saw a balance between two teams and Vietnamese players struggled to broke through Kyrgyz defence.

Việt Nam leveled the score but a mistake in the last minutes brought Kyrgyzstan the winning goal.

The Argentinean coach said he was sorry for not winning and thanked fans for strong support.

“This is the best players of Việt Nam currently. We are here to find a place in the World Cup. My team and I have tried our best. I will take time to evaluate all matches of Việt Nam at this competition," said Giustozzi.

“Many teams have showed their strong ability here. They are in same level or even better than Việt Nam. It's surprising that a team only needed two to three months practising to reach our level. That is something very special and I think we have to change our way of working." VNS
