HÀ NỘI — Grandmaster Lê Tuấn Minh secured his first title while Woman Grandmaster Phạm Lê Thảo Nguyên bagged her second at the National Chess Championship on March 11 in Hà Nội.

Hanoian Minh triumphed in the men's super blitz event with eight points from seven wins and two draws. 

HCM City masters Nguyễn Quốc Hy and Phạm Trần Gia Phúc were second and third, respectively.

Nguyên from Cần Thơ also had eight points to top the women's class. Đỗ Hoàng Minh Thơ from Bến Tre and Nguyễn Hồng Anh of HCM City finished behind her.

It was Nguyên's second title following the first one in rapid chess on March 9.

Players will next take part in standard chess before wrapping up the tournament on March 17 with ASEAN chess competitions. — VNS
