HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will play a friendly match against Palestine on September 11 as part of the FIFA Days events.

The match is scheduled at the Thiên Trường Stadium in Nam Định Province which is more than 110km from Hà Nội.

It is considered a competitive match as the two teams are at the same level in terms of the world ranking. Việt Nam sits at No 95 while Palestine, No 96.

In the previous FIFA Days in June, Việt Nam also hosted Syria at Thiên Trường and won 1-0.

The national team will gather for training early next month after the national leagues wrap up later this week. 

The Việt Nam Football Federation also plans a match against South Korea, world No 28, during a training course in the country in October.

South Korea's head coach Jurgen Klinsmann confirmed the news in an interview with Yonhap News on August 21. But the date of the match has not been revealed.

The teams' matches are also activities to prepare for the second 2026 World Cup qualification in mid-October and the 2023 Asian Cup final.

At the World Cup qualifier, Việt Nam is in Group F with Iraq, the Philippines and the winner of the play-off match between Indonesia and Brunei.

At the Asian Cup, Việt Nam will play Japan, Indonesia and Iraq in Group D early next year. VNS
