CẦN THƠ — The Cần Thơ Heritage Marathon 2023 will officially start on December 3, the event’s organising board has announced.

This is one of the official events of Cần Thơ City towards the 20th anniversary of its establishment.

Currently, the event has received registrations of nearly 5,000 athletes and is expected to attract 2,000 more to compete in four distances: 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km.

The tournament is expected to be a season of innovation worthy of the city's iconic run.

The Cần Thơ Heritage Marathon 2022 has so far attracted 5,000 runners.

Nguyễn Thị Hồng Hạnh, CEO of DHA Việt Nam, the organiser said: “Through collecting the direct opinions of athletes and carefully surveying the running routes, at this time DHA Việt Nam has a plan to adjust the running track for the 2023 season.

"The organising board will strengthen solutions to ensure safety and health and provide the best experience for participating athletes,” she said. 

According to Hạnh, the organising board will continue to consult international experts in the field of marathon organisation to get the most useful advice for the organisation, communication and promotion to attract more and more athletes to run and experience the beauty of and enjoy the cultural specialities of Cần Thơ, the largest city in the Mekong Delta, Việt Nam.
