HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam advanced to the second qualifier of the AFC Women's U17 Asian Cup after a second win on Wednesday in Hà Nội.

The hosts beat Uzbekistan 3-0 at the Việt Nam Football Federation's Youth Football Centre.

Nguyễn Thị Thanh Hiếu opened the scoring at the ninth minute. Trương Thị Hoài Trinh scored at the 72nd before Nguyễn Thị Thương wrapped up the scoring with a beautiful free kick four minutes later.

The visiting side also had several opportunities but failed to score.

It was Việt Nam's second win in Group C. Earlier, Việt Nam defeated Palestine 5-0 on April 22.

Việt Nam placed on top and qualified for the next round. 

Uzbekistan were second as they beat Palestine 2-0.

The second round will see the eight best teams from the first qualifier competing in two groups from September 16 to 24. 

Four teams from Round 2 will advance to the finals, which is scheduled to be held in Indonesia from April 7 to 20, 2024. They will be joined by the top three teams from the AFC U16 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 as well as hosts Indonesia. 

Defending champions and four-time winners Japan, runners-up and three-time champions North Korea, and third-placed China are the teams from 2019 to qualify directly for the finals. VNS
