Players summoned for 32nd SEA Games campaign

HÀ NỘI — National head coach Philippe Troussier on April 13 called 31 players to prepare for the 32nd SEA Games.

In the French coach's list, there are four goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 11 midfielders and six forwards.

Most of them are familiar faces who competed at the Doha Cup last month in Qatar such as goalie Quan Văn Chuẩn, defenders Vũ Tiến Long and Phan Tuấn Tài, midfielders Nguyễn Đức Việt and Khuất Văn Khang and forward Nguyễn Quốc Việt.

Troussier also keeps places for newbies such as custodian Cao Văn Bình, defender Hồ Văn Cường, midfielders Nguyễn Đức Phú and Đinh Xuân Tiến and forward Bùi Vĩ Hào.

Players will gather together on April 16 in Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu Province where the weather is similar to Phnom Penh.

They will practise for 10 days and have two friendly matches against V.League 1 side HCM City FC and V.League squad Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu. A final list of 20 players will be announced before they travel to Cambodia for the Games.

Việt Nam are in Group B with Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Laos. Their first matches is to play Singapore on April 30.

The VFF expected Troussier to enter the final match but the World Cup coach wanted his team to successfully their title with the third time winning in middle May. VNS
