HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese No 1 cyclist Nguyễn Thị Thật has brought home two awards at the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorns Cup Women's Tour of Thailand.
Thật won the award of green jersey as the best sprinter and red jersey as Queen of Mountain in the Thai event concluded on Monday.
Before entering the final stage from Rayong to Dok Krai Reservoir, which is 89km long, Thật gained all four yellow, green, red and purple jerseys. Therefore, the Vietnamese team was expected to face many difficulties before the attack of the remaining 11 racing teams.
However, in the first prize along the way, Thật once again proved her strength in sprinting, surpassing her arch-rival Maneephan Jutatip of Thailand to gain five more points for the green jersey.
However, since then, the Vietnamese cycling team have struggled as other teams joined forces to beat them.
Lee Eunhee of South Korea won the final stage, Delia Ayustina of Indonesia took second, and Nur Aisyah of Malaysia came third.
With this result, Eunhee won the overall yellow jersey with a total time of 6:2.38. While Thật fell to fifth place with her total time of 6:3.13.
Despite losing the overall yellow jersey title, Thật still won the green jersey and red jersey.
As the tournament belongs to the competition system of the International Cycling Union, Thật will receive more than 51 points in the world bicycle rankings. — VNS
