HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Thùy Linh finished second at the YONEX Bendigo International 2022, which ended over the weekend in West Bendigo, Australia.
Linh was seeded No. 1 and met no difficulty in reaching the final match where she faced experienced Sung Shuo-yun of Chinese Taipei who was No. 2.
Both sides played an aggressive first set. They battled to a stand-off at 18-18 before Sung surged and won 21-19.
In the second set, Linh led 8-4 but it was Sung's day. She came back strongly to level the score before winning 21-15.
Sung pocketed US$1,350 and 3,400 points for the title while Linh enjoyed $675 and 3,400 points.
Linh will fly to New Zealand to compete in the VICTOR North Harbour International 2022, which begins on October 20. The International Challenge-level event will award $15,000 and points for winning athletes.
She is the No. 2 seed below Lauren Lam of the US. Linh will first play Samayara Panwar of India in the first match. VNS
