Thailand, VN taekwondo grab combat golds

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese fighter Bạc Thị Khiêm dominated for a gold medal with a win over Indonesia’s Silvana Lamada 19-0 in the women’s 67kg category final in the taekwondo at Hà Nội’s Tây Hồ sports centre on May 17.

Trương Thị Kim Tuyền grabbed the second taekwondo gold of the day for Việt Nam when she beat Thailand’s Chutikan Jongkolrattanawattana 10-6 in the women’s 46kg class.

Tuyền fought back to win the game after suffering a 5-2 loss in the first round.

Talented fighter Tuyền completed her target at the Games with a gold medal in her return to the Games. Tuyền won the title in 2015 and a silver in the 2017 Games.

She dropped out of the SEA Games 30 in 2019 to train for the Tokyo Olympics.

Thailand’s Chanchong Cho edged Lý Hồng Phúc of Việt Nam 14-11 in the men’s 68kg final to take home gold.

Thailand's team won one more gold in the men’s 58kg class, while the Philippines took gold in the men’s 54kg.

Việt Nam’s taekwondo team has grabbed four golds and one silver in the performance event at the SEA Games.
