HÀ NỘI — The Vietnamese national futsal team drew 1-1 with Myanmar in their first match of the AFF Futsal Championship held in Thailand on April 4.

Việt Nam played attack from the first minutes of the match. Consecutive opportunities were created in front of Myanmar's goal. After many missed opportunities, Việt Nam took the lead in the 13th minute, thanks to Nhan Gia Hưng. The score remained 1-0 until half time.

After the break, Việt Nam continued to dominate the game but couldn't take advantage of their chances. Myanmar suddenly equalised in the 27th minute through Myo Myint Soe's free-kick.

Việt Nam bounced back strongly to try to take the lead but couldn’t break through the well-organised Myanmar defence.

Việt Nam will meet Timor Leste on April 5 and Australia on April 6.

The AFF Futsal Championship features nine teams divided into two groups. Group A consists of hosts Thailand, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Cambodia. Group B comprises Việt Nam, Myanmar, Australia, and Timor Leste.

The eams are competing in a round-robin format that will see the top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals.

The top three teams will win tickets to the AFC Futsal Asian Cup, which is scheduled in Kuwait from September 25 to October 20. VNS
