The HCM City People’s Committee will allow districts 6, Tân Bình and Bình Tân to mandate social distancing if they think it is necessary after a few new cases of Covid-19 were found there.

The Cửu Long (Mekong Delta) province of Kiên Giang has seen a rebound in domestic tourism and tourist numbers are expected to surge during the New Year and Tết (Lunar New Year) holidays.

Two more community infections of COVID-19 have been detected in HCM City, both connected to the teacher who broke Viet Nam’s three month run of no locally transmitted cases. Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc on Tuesday ordered a temporary suspension of all commercial flights to Việt Nam. 

The Ministry of Health have said the case was caused when a flight attendant from Vietnam Airlines who had tested positive for the virus “lowered his guard” and met with friends and family when he should have been self-isolating.
