HÀ NỘI - Việt Nam confirmed five new imported COVID-19 cases and one recovery on Friday evening, bringing the national count to 1,105 and total recoveries to 1,024, announced the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Friday evening.

All the new imported cases are Indian men, aged from 31 to 66, who arrived in Việt Nam on October 6 to work for Sethia Hemraj Rice Oil Company Limited in the southern province of Đồng Tháp.

After their flight landed at Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport on October 6, they were taken into a quarantine area at Đồng Tháp Province’s Military School.

Their testing results on October 7 showed they tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. They are being treated at Sa Đéc General Hospital.

In addition, the committee announced that Patient 1063 had been given the all-clear the same day.

Among those still under treatment, five have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus once, seven others twice, and five three times. No patients are in critical conditions at present, the treatment sub-committee noted.

There are 14,250 people who had close contact with confirmed cases or that came from pandemic-hit regions under quarantine now.

With the latest imported cases confirmed on Friday, Việt Nam has gone 37 straight days without community transmission of COVID-19. VNS
