ĐÀ NẴNG — Seven new cases of COVID-19 in central Việt Nam were reported on Tuesday evening, bringing the total number of infections in Việt Nam to 438.
The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced that all patients are community transmission cases from central Đà Nẵng City and Quảng Nam Province – the new hotspots of the COVID-19 pandemic after new locally transmitted cases were detected recently.
The new cases are:
A 63-year-old woman from Ái Nghĩa Town, Đại Lộc District in Quảng Nam Province. The patient attended a wedding ceremony at the For You Palace Wedding Centre in Đà Nẵng Province’s Hải Châu District on July 18, the same place where the first locally transmitted patient recorded in Việt Nam after 99 virus-free days had visited. She tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus nine days later.
A 67-year-old woman from Điện Bàn Town in Quảng Nam Province. She visited her husband who was under treatment at Đà Nẵng General Hospital between July 13 and 16. She suffered from a fever and cough and was positive for the virus on July 28
A 71-year-old woman in An Hải Đông Ward in Đà Nẵng City.
A 29-year-old woman in Vĩnh Trung Ward, Thanh Khê District, who was an employee at Đà Nẵng General Hospital.
A 66-year-old man in Điện Bàn Town in Quảng Nam Province.
A 61-year-old man in Hoà An Ward, Cẩm Lệ District in Đà Nẵng City.
A 56-year-old man in Tam Thuận Ward, Thanh Khê District in Đà Nẵng City.
The last three patients are under treatment at Đà Nẵng General Hospital’s Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Centre.
More than 15,030 people are currently quarantined at hospitals, health centres and at home. — VNS
