HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam always wants to consult the World Health Organization, international organisations and experts whenever there is a new development in COVID-19 prevention and control, according to Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam.

He made the statement at a meeting with representatives of the WHO and international organisations in Hà Nội on Monday after the country reported new cases of community transmission in central Đà Nẵng City.

WHO Representative in Việt Nam Kidong Park said the appearance of new cases of community infection in Việt Nam was normal. In fact, many countries in the world recorded a strong increase in the number of community infection cases after removing social distancing.

The medical system of Việt Nam has worked effectively to discover the new cases in the early stage, he said, adding that after the first new case of community transmission was detected, Việt Nam’s medical system has made a quick response and carried out comprehensive prevention and control measures.

“We are very impressed by what the Vietnamese Government, Ministry of Health and localities have done over the past few days,” he said.

Representatives from the international organisations applauded Việt Nam’s efforts to provide information about the development of the disease transparently and promptly and wanted Việt Nam to continue sharing information and experience in COVID-19 prevention and control.
