HÀ NỘI — Two more COVID-19 patients have made a full recovery on Friday in Việt Nam.

The recovered patients have lifted the country’s total cases being given the all-clear to 323, making up 97.3 per cent of the total COVID-19 patients in the country.

They are 30-year-old man from from Hải Phòng City’s Lê Chân District (Patient No 297) and a 29-year-old man from Thái Bình Province’s Vũ Thư District (Patient No 298).

Both of them are imported cases, returning to Việt Nam from Russia on May 13, and have been treated at National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Hà Nội after they were confirmed positive for the SARS-CoV-2 on May 15.

Currently, they have no fever or cough and are in a stable condition. Both of them have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 twice.

They will remain in quarantine for a further two weeks before being allowed home.

No new COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday morning, meaning Việt Nam remained clear of community transmission for 57 consecutive days, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Of the 332 cases confirmed so far in the country, 192 were imported and quarantined upon arrival, posing no risks of community virus spread.

Of the 11 active patients, three have tested negative for the coronavirus once and two at least twice.

Some 9,226 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or came from pandemic-hit areas are currently under quarantine across the country.

The British pilot, known as Patient No 91, is now fully conscious and shows great health improvements following more than two months in treatment and days in induced coma with severe lung damages.

Bars, karaoke venues to reopen

HCM City’s People’s Committee has allowed reopening of entertainment facilities such as bars and karaoke venues, the latest businesses to be allowed to resume operations more than a month after nation-wide social distancing order came to an end as the authorities deemed the situation in the country has been well under control.

In its public dispatch 2176/UBND-VX, the committee requires continuing with COVID-19 prevention and control measures.

The committee also assigned the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to create favourable conditions for the issue of new working permits and extension of existing ones for foreign workers while ensuring safety against the pandemic. Entertainment facilities are told to keep in place prevention measures.

The HCM City municipal health department said that there have been 59 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city as of Friday, with 56 already given the all clear. Meanwhile, suspected cases number 415 by now, with all tests coming out negative. — VNS
