ĐẮK LẮK — A rescue team has carried nearly 24,000 litres of tap water to 200 households in Ea Súp District in the Central Highlands province of Đắk Lắk.
The move aims to help local residents survive during a shortage of fresh water after the district was hit by a drought since early April.
A report from the province said nearly 1,300 households in the district have been affected by the drought so far.
Đắk Lắk Irrigation Works Management Company Limited, that manages 247 reservoirs all over the province, said two reservoirs ran out of water and 19 reservoirs had water levels below 50 per cent.
Meanwhile, the provincial Hydro-meteorology Forecasting Station also warned that the water level of local rivers and the underground water level would continue to decrease and the rainy season would likely to come later than the same period last year. — VNS
