HÀ NỘI — Some 240 Vietnamese citizens were brought home from France on Wednesday.

The flight was arranged by a number of agencies including the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in the UAE, Vietnam Airlines and French authorities.

On board were a number of children, elderly, people with illnesses and students who do not have accommodation after their schools’ domitories closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All passengers and the flight crew underwent health checks and were put into quarantine in line with Việt Nam’s regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control upon arrival at Vân Đồn Airport in northern Quảng Ninh Province.

On the way to France on Tuesday, the flight transported medical equipment and materials that the Vietnamese Government and people presented to the government and people of France.

Based on citizens’ wishes, the local quarantine capacity, as well as the pandemic’s developments, authorities and airlines will continue to conduct flights to repatriate more Vietnamese citizens in the future. — VNS
