Ten more COVID-19 infections reported

Four of the patients entered Việt Nam from March 21 to 23 and were isolated upon arrival, three are foreigners with infections linked to HCM City’s Buddha Bar and the other three contracted the deadly virus from the 133rd patient in Hà Nội’s Bạch Mai Hospital.

HÀ NỘI — Ten new cases of COVID-19 infections were confirmed by the Ministry of Health on Friday evening, increasing Việt Nam's total to 163.

Four of the patients entered Việt Nam from March 21 to 23 and were isolated upon arrival, three are foreigners with infections linked to HCM City’s Buddha Bar and the other three contracted the deadly virus from the 133rd patient in Hà Nội’s Bạch Mai Hospital.

The 154th patient is a 23-year-old Vietnamese woman residing in Hồng Hải District, Hạ Long City, Quảng Ninh Province. She flew from London to the Mekong Delta city of Cần Thơ on March 22 on Vietnam Airlines flight VN0050, seat 12C – the same flight as the 145th patient.

She was sent to the centralised quarantine area at Cần Thơ Military School with symptoms of fever, shortness of breath and nausea.

On March 24, she got a high fever and was transferred to Cần Thơ Hospital of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease for testing and treatment.

The 155th patient is a 21-year-old Vietnamese woman residing in Trung Village, Ân Thi Town, northern Hưng Yên Province who flew from London to Cần Thơ City on Vietnam Airlines flight VN0050 on March 22, seat 2K. She was quarantined at Bạc Liêu Province Military School.

Since then, she has not yet shown any symptoms. The patient and her roommate at the quarantine area have been transferred to Bạc Liêu Province General Hospital for monitoring.

The 156th patient is a 21-year-old Vietnamese man residing in District 7, Trà Vinh City, Trà Vinh Province who also returned to Việt Nam on flight VN0050 on March 22, seat 23G.

He was isolated at Bạc Liêu Province Military School and has not shown any symptoms so far.

The patient and his roommate at the quarantine area have been admitted to Bạc Liêu Province General Hospital.

The 157th patient is a 31-year-old British woman living in District 4, HCM City. She was in contact with a COVID-19 patient at Buddha Bar.

The patient is now being quarantined at a hospital in Củ Chi District without any reported symptoms.

The 158th and 159th patients are 45-year-old and 33-year-old Brazilian men living in District 2, HCM City who were in contact with a patient at Buddha Bar on March 14.

They are showing no symptoms and are being quarantined at HCM City Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The 160th patient is a 30-year-old Vietnamese woman residing in Lộc Phát District, Bảo Lộc City, the Central Highlands province of Lâm Đồng.

She first experienced a sore throat and coughed on March 20. A month ago, the patient was in Madrid and in close contact with her COVID-19-infected sister.

On March 22, she transited in Moscow on the way back to Việt Nam on Aeroflot flights SU2605 and SU292 and was isolated upon arrival in Viet Nam.

The patient is receiving treatment at COVID-19 Specialised Hospital in HCM City’s Cần Giờ District.

The 161st patient is an 88-year-old Vietnamese woman living in Tân Quang Commune, Văn Lâm District, Hưng Yên Province.

On March 17, the patient fell into coma and was sent to local Phố Nối Hospital and was diagnosed with a brain bleed, unrelated to COVID-19.

The same day, she was admitted to the Department of Neurology at Hà Nội-based Bạch Mai Hospital in the same room as the 133rd patient.

After nine days of treatment, her condition improved somewhat and woke up from the coma.

She then tested positive to SARS-CoV-2 on March 25 at Bạch Mai Hospital and transferred to Hospital for Tropical Diseases campus no.2 in Kim Chung District.

The 162nd patient is a 63-year-old woman, the 161st patient’s daughter-in-law who resides in Long Biên District, Hà Nội.

She was sent to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases without any reported symptoms.

The 163rd patient is a 43-year-old woman, the 161st patient’s granddaughter who lives in Long Biên District, Hà Nội.

She has been quarantined at Đức Giang Hospital since March 25 and has not shown any symptoms. — VNS
