HÀ NỘI — The last of Việt Nam’s 16 coronavirus patients was discharged from the Quang Hà General Medical Clinic in Vĩnh Phúc Province on Wednesday morning.
The patient, named N. V. V, 50, from Sơn Lôi Commune, Bình Xuyên District, Vĩnh Phúc Province, was hospitalised on February 12, 2020.
The patient was in direct contact with his daughter, N. T. D, one of eight Vietnamese people who tested positive for the virus after returning from Wuhan, China, on January 30, 2020.
Previously, the patient tested negative for COVID-19 and was isolated for four days. By February 11, the patient started showing symptoms of a cough and runny nose, but no fever. On February 12, samples tested positive for the virus and he began undergoing treatment at Quang Hà Medical Clinic.
After 15 days of treatment, the patient’s symptoms cleared, and he has been declared as stable. The patient first tested negative on Sunday, second on Monday and for the third time on Tuesday.
With this latest release, all 16 COVID-19 cases have been cured by Vietnamese doctors. Notably, no new cases have been reported during the last 13 days across the country.
As of 8.30am on Wednesday, there were 80,596 confirmed COVID-19 cases around the world, including 77,665 in mainland China and 2,931 in 40 other countries and territories.
The number of fatalities stood at 2,710, including 2,663 in mainland China, according to the health ministry’s public health emergency operations centre. — VNS
