HẢI PHÒNG — Hải Phòng veterinary authorities have found avian flu A/H5N6 infections in the northeastern port city, making it the ninth locality in the country to report the disease.
Previously, on Sunday, ducks belonging to Đinh Văn Tứ – a farmer in Kim Sơn Village, Tân Trào Commune of Kiến Thuỵ District – refused to eat, showed signs of weariness and diarrhoea. Some even died.
Samples were taken to the lab for testing and Tứ’s ducks tested positive on Monday.
Authorities immediately culled the 3,700-strong flock in the afternoon and sprayed disinfectant over the farming area.
Bùi Văn Luyện, deputy head of Hải Phòng’s Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Department, said to prevent further spread, on Tuesday morning, the entire Kim Sơn Village was sanitised. — VNS
