HCM CITY — A specialised field hospital has been set up in HCM City to deal with the outbreak of novel coronavirus.

The 300-bed facility opens today at Bàu Đưng Village, Nhuận Đức Commune in Củ Chi District.

Associate professor Tăng Chí Thượng, deputy director of the HCM City Department of Health, said that the HCM City Hospital for Tropical Diseases would bear the main responsibility to run the field hospital.

Doctors and nurses from different hospitals in the city will take turns working at the health centre.

Besides the field hospitals, 47 hospitals in the city have specific rooms and isolated areas for health examination and treatment for patients suspected to be infected with coronavirus.

So far three people in HCM City were tested positive. One of them has been cured of the illness and discharged.

More than 50 other people suspected to have the virus were being isolated and under supervision. — VNS
