Việt Nam to hold international exhibition in defence and security

HÀ NỘI — The latest technological innovations, equipment and facilities in defence and security will be on show at the Việt Nam International Defence and Security Exhibition 2020 (VIDSE).

The equipment will include unmanned aerial vehicles, anti-submarine warfare systems and self-propelled and towed tube and rocket artillery.

The exhibition, scheduled to run from March 4-6 next year at the Hà Nội-based National Convention Centre, is jointly organised by the Hà Nội Advertising and International Fair Joint Stock Company, Clarion Events and Trinton Events with support from the Vietnamese ministries of public security and national defence.

Speaking at a press conference to introduce the exhibition in Hà Nội on Thursday, director of Hà Nội Advertising and International Fair Joint Stock Company (HADIFA), Lê Thị Lan Anh, said the event is expected to host 120 exhibitors in the defence and security industries from more than 40 countries as well as welcome some 5,000 visitors.

“This will not only help Việt Nam have an international exhibition in defence and security on par with other countries in the region but also serve to improve defence mechanisms, enhance surveillance, reconnaissance, and offence by showcasing the latest technological innovation, equipment and facilities; support soldiers and staff to experience the most advanced technologies from leading suppliers,” Anh said.

She said that there would be bilateral and multilateral conferences and talks chaired or proposed by the ministries of public security and national defence, opening up opportunities for co-operation with local and international partners.

“The event will allow enterprises of Việt Nam and other countries in defence and security to introduce their products and technologies, to gain further experience in research, manufacturing and distribution as well as to seek opportunities for co-operation and development in the future,” Anh said.

She said that HADIFA, as a professional event organiser in Việt Nam, would fully support exhibitors in logistics procedures.

Managing Director of Clarion Events from the UK, Tim Porter, said from his company’s long experience in organising international exhibitions in defence and security around the world, Việt Nam would be an ideal location.

“Việt Nam is an interesting and exciting country in the world’s defence and security industries,” he said. “Việt Nam has a very large and capable military with distinguished professionalism.”

According to Porter, Việt Nam possessed a highly regarded defence and security industries with great growth capacity, skilled workforce and favourable geographical position.

The country had all elements to co-operate with partners from across the world, he said.
