QUẢNG NGÃI — A ceremony to inaugurate Thạch Bích Bridge – the third concrete bridge across the Trà Khúc River – was held today in the central province of Quảng Ngãi.The bridge is 875 metres long and 18 metres wide.
The project also included building 1.5 kilometres of approach road. The project was approved by the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People's Committee in 2016, with a total investment of VNĐ643 billion (US$27.5 million).
The bridge is set to play an important role in reducing traffic on Trà Khúc 1 Bridge, according to a representative of Quảng Ngãi City People’s Committee at the launch ceremony. The representative said the committee hopes it will be a driving force of the socio-economic development of the rural areas around the city.
The bridge will cut travel times for people living along the river, the representative said. It will contribute to the development of the city and create a route for traffic from the city centre to Tịnh Phong industrial zone.
To complete the bridge, the city People's Committee had to clear 6.7 hectares of land in Lê Hồng Phong Ward and Tịnh Ấn Tây Commune. Site clearance delayed construction for several months. — VNS
