3 die, 38 injured in sleeper bus, truck collision

Three people died and other 37 people were injured in the collision between a sleeper bus and a truck on National Highway No6 in Mai Châu District, northern province of Hoà Bình around mid-night.

HOÀ BÌNH — Three people died and 38 were injured in a collision between a sleeper bus and a truck on National Highway 6 in Mai Châu District in the northern province of Hoà Bình at around midnight.

Driver Cao Xuân Hồng, 45, from northern province of Phú Thọ was among the fatalities. Hồng was carrying passengers from Hà Nội to Điện Biên.

The 5-tonne truck driven by 28-year-old Nguyễn Thư Quỳnh from Hà Nội was reportedly carrying scrap.

Among the 38 injured, two with serious injuries were taken to the Hà Nội-based Việt Đức Hospital for treatment.

Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hoà Bình, who is head of the National Committee for Traffic Safety, has sent a team to the province to help investigate the accident. — VNS
