HÀ NỘI — The Hà Nội Police Investigation Agency has detained Đỗ Văn Bình of Hà Nội’s Mê Linh District in connection with the murder of three people, zing.vn has reported.
The initial investigation showed that Bình, 37, who is employed as a pig slaughterer, allegedly caused three deaths and one serious injury.
On the afternoon of May 15, Bình drove a seven-seater car and crashed into two motorcyclists named Hà Văn Hưng and Đoàn Văn Tùng in Vạn Yên Commune. Bình was then attacked by Hưng and Tùng.
Annoyed at being beaten, on the evening of the same day, Bình made an appointment to meet both Hưng and Tùng, then killed them with a knife, police said.
After that, Bình drove to a noodle shop in Bắc Bình Commune in Lập Thạch District in Vĩnh Phúc Province. He seriously injured the shop owner by slashing her with a knife.
Residents in Tam Dương District blocked the road when he fled. Bình then crashed into a car in front of him and held a knife in front of a taxi driver so that he could steal the car and a cellphone.
On the afternoon of May 17, Bình killed a woman in Yên Lạc District. He confessed to the murder, saying he had a conflict with her, according to police.
Lawyer Nguyễn Anh Thơm from the Hà Nội Bar Association said that Bình could receive the death sentence for the crimes, as stipulated in Article 123 of the Criminal Code. — VNS
