HCM CITY — HCM City and neighbouring Đồng Nai Province have reached final agreement on the construction of the Cát Lái Bridge linking them.

They have agreed on the scale and the time frame for the construction works and the sources of funds for the bridge connecting the city’s District 2 with Đồng Nai’s Nhơn Trạch District over the Sài Gòn River.

They will be responsible for building the approach roads on their respective sides.

The city People’s Committee will send a report on the progress of the project to the Ministry of Transport.

According to the city Department of Transport, the bridge will be 4.5km long and have eight lanes.

When completed, it will facilitate transport from HCM City not only to Nhơn Trạch District but also to the rest of Đồng Nai and Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province.

In the near future, when the Long Thành International Airport becomes operational (in Đồng Nai Province), the Cát Lái Bridge will connect HCM City with the airport, helping ease congestion on the HCM City-Long Thành-Dầu Giây Expressway. — VNS.
