QUẢNG NGÃI – Border soldiers in the central province of Quảng Ngãi said they were investigating the transportation and storage of more than half a tonne of explosives.
Around 9am on Thursday, local border soldiers and police stopped Trương Duy Chuyển, a resident of Bình Thuận Commune, Bình Sơn District, while he was illegally transporting 50kg of explosives and 100 detonators by motorbike, Người lao động (The Labourer) newspaper reported.
They also found that Chuyển’s wife was carrying 25kg of explosives from her house to another place.
Police searched Chuyển and his relatives’ houses, seizing a total of 575kg of explosives, 1,050 detonators and 1,005m of slow-burning fuses.
Chuyển confessed he bought all of the explosives to sell to fishermen who use them to fish. — VNS
