Drug trafficking suspect arrested in Sơn La

The police department of the northern mountainous province of Sơn La, working with the police of two of Vân Hồ and Mộc Châu districts, arrested a suspect illegally transporting nearly 6.5 kilogrammes of heroin in Lóng Luông Village, Lóng Luông Commune, Vân Hồ District on Wednesday.

SƠN LA — The police department of the northern mountainous province of Sơn La, working with the police of two of Vân Hồ and Mộc Châu districts, arrested a suspect illegally transporting nearly 6.5 kilogrammes of heroin in Lóng Luông Village, Lóng Luông Commune, Vân Hồ District on Wednesday.

The suspected drug trafficker is Giàng A Cấu, born in 1981, a resident of the commune’s Tà Dê Village. Officers seized 20 bars of heroin, 198 methamphetamine tablets, a motorbike and other related evidence.

On the same day, police in the northern province of Hoà Bình and Tân Lạc District police stopped two suspicious men on a motorbike on Highway 6 in Tuân Lộ Commune in the province's Tân Lạc District.

The forces discovered 10 bars of heroin under the bottom of the vehicle. The two suspects – Nguyễn Đức Thuận, born in 1973, and Ngô Dương Thanh, born in 1972, both residents of the city of Thái Nguyên – admitted they were hired to carry the drugs from Sơn La Province to Hoà Bình Province.

In a urine test, Thuận tested positive for drugs.
