HÀ NỘI The country’s most advanced automatic weigh bridge, sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has been handed over to the Directorate for Roads of Việt Nam (DRVN).

The bridge has been installed on Highway 5 in Hải Phòng City.

Đặng Văn Chung, deputy director of the Traffic Safety Department under the DRVN, said the bridge is capable of detecting 15 different pieces of information, including the vehicle’s owner, weight and size in order to calculate whether the vehicle is overweight or not.

The DRVN plans to ask the Ministry of Transport to install more weigh bridges on main roads across the country.

The bridge will be put under the management of the Vietnam Infrastructure Development and Finance Investment JSC next month.

Nguyễn Văn Huyện, director of the DRVN, said it would report back to the Ministry of Transport after six months to evaluate its effectiveness before rolling them out across the country. VNS
