HCM CITY — The HCM City chapter of the Vietnam Red Cross Society will seek support from local and international organisations, enterprises and individuals to help 10,000 charity organisations, poor and orphaned people and Agent Orange (AO)/Dioxin victims and people with disabilities this year.
A number of humanitarian campaigns will be undertaken to help people in need, including the annual humanitarian month, Tết (Lunar New Year) for the poor and Agent Orange victims campaign and free health check-up and treatment.
Last year it raised VNĐ449.65 billion (US$19.38 million), 11.3 per cent more than in 2017.
This year the society hopes to attract 260,000 people to its annual voluntary blood donation campaign.
Last year more than 241,600 people donated more than 309,800 units of blood. — VNS
