Heroin trafficker arrested in northern border Điện Biên Province

Border guard forces in the northwestern province of Điện Biên on Saturday caught red-handed a man illegally transporting heroin in Nậm Kè Commune of Mường Nhé District.

ĐIỆN BIÊN — Border guard forces in the northwestern province of Điện Biên on Saturday caught a man illegally transporting heroin in Nậm Kè Commune of Mường Nhé District.

Vàng A Vư, 22, and residing in Co Lót Village, Mường Nhé Commune, was arrested while driving a motorbike from Co Lót village to neighbouring Lai Châu Province.

He was carrying a bag with four bricks of heroin, weighing a total 1.5kg.

Vư admitted he bought the drugs from a person in Yangxin District of China’s Yunnan Province for 50,000 Yuan (US$7,273) and kept them in his family’s shack. He said that he was transporting the drugs to sell to a buyer in Lai Châu when he was arrested.

The case is under investigation. — VNS
