HCM CITY — Businesses operating in the 23/9 Park in HCM City’s District 1 must move out by April 30 next year, the chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Nguyễn Thành Phong, has said.

Phong directed the city’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment to coordinate with agencies to relocate shops and parking lots in the park.

Phong also ask the city’s Department of Planning and Architecture to complete a 1/500 scale detailed plan for the park before the third quarter of this year.

“Parks are places where residents relax after a stressful day of work. But there are cafes, shops, and people playing music at loud volumes. How can residents relax in such a noisy environment?” Phong said at a recent meeting.

The city’s Department of Transport said that such activities were also polluting the park.

The 23/9 Park is a popular park for relaxation and sports such as badminton, jogging, football and dancing. Festivals and celebrations are also organised in the park. — VNS
