HẢI PHÒNG — The northern coastal city of Hải Phòng is envisioned to be the new leading centre of marine economy, services, high-tech industry and tourism in Việt Nam, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

The city’s new development pathway is indicated in the Hải Phòng City General Planning Adjustment by 2035, and its vision to 2050 was approved by Deputy Prime Minister Trịnh Đình Dũng in mid-May.

The plan is expected to improve the position of Hải Phòng City in the region and the world by developing it as a modern and smart habour city.

The focus is on reviewing the city’s general planning approved in 2009 and the city’s urban development, evaluating the city’s strategic environment and capacity in climate change resilience, as well as proposing solutions to preserve the urban landscape and improve public infrastructure.

The city general planning will also evaluate the status quo of local infrastructure systems in the fields of administration, health, education, culture, sports, tourism and recreation. — VNS
