HÀ NỘI — The Investigation Police Agency, under the Ministry of Public Security, has prosecuted and put in temporary detention two former leaders of Bình Sơn Refining and Petrochemical Co. Ltd (BSR).

They have been charged with “abusing position and power to appropriate assets”.

The arrestees are Nguyễn Hoài Giang, former chairman of the Member Council, and Phạm Xuân Quang, former chief accountant of BSR.

The Investigation Police Agency said on Thursday it was investigating the case at BSR and the Ocean Commercial Joint Stock Bank, pursuant to prosecution decision No. 55/C46-P11, dated September 13, 2017.

The case is directly monitored by the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption.

Based on the investigation outcome, the agency issued orders on the prosecution and arrest of Giang and Quang in accordance with Article 355 of the 2015 Penal Code.

On April 27 this year, Vũ Mạnh Tùng, former deputy director general of BSR, was also prosecuted and taken into temporary detention on the same charge.
