HÀ NỘI — The Vietnamese government wants domestic and foreign investors to fund airport infrastructure in the country, Deputy Prime Minister Vương Đình Huệ told corporate executives of Zurich Airport during a reception in Hà Nội yesterday.

Huệ said the Vietnamese aviation sector has grown significantly in the past few decades, and the country is placed among the world’s top five markets in terms of airline passenger volume from 2015-2035, behind China, India and Indonesia.

Apart from the Long Thành Airport in Đồng Nai Province, Huệ also introduced the Vân Đồn, Chu Lai and Lào Cai airport projects to the visitors.

He agreed with the visitors’ proposal about building infrastructure services and facilities around airports in Việt Nam.

Chief Financial Officer of Zurich Airport, Lukas Brosi, said their visit aimed to learn more about Việt Nam’s airport planning, including the Long Thành Airport.

The visitors said they were keen to partner with Việt Nam in training, transferring management technology and exploiting airport potentials.— VNS
