HÀ NỘI — The Investigation Police Agency under the Ministry of Public Security said on Monday it has issued an arrest warrant for three suspects on charges of appropriating property at OceanBank’s Hải Phòng branch.
The property was valued at VNĐ500 billion (US$22 million).
The three accused are Trần Thị Kim Chi, 33, former director of OceanBank’s Hải Phòng branch and a resident of Nam Định Province; Lê Vương Hoàng, 26; and Nguyễn Thị Minh Huệ, 27. Both Hoàng and Huệ are former officers at the branch and from Thái Bình Province.
The three suspects were determined to have fled this month, the agency said.
The defendants were investigated and wanted for related violations at OceanBank’s Hải Phòng branch in connection with the mobilisation of savings accounts. Some 20 customers, who have deposit books with the money amounting to $22 million, were not included in the bank’s database.
Specifically, information on the deposit cards did not match information recorded in the core banking system on the sender’s name and the amount of savings. — VNS
