HÀ NỘI — A collision between a sleeper bus and a 45-seater coach occurred on a highway outside Hà Nội early Tuesday, injuring 10 people and paralysing traffic in the area.
The accident took place at 6am on a section of Pháp Vân-Cầu Giẽ Expressway in Hà Nội’s Thường Tín District.
According to the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security, the sleeper bus was travelling from Thanh Hóa Province to Hà Nội when it suddenly rammed into the back of 45-seater coach with Lao number plate, travelling from Savannakhet Province to Hà Nội.
The collision was so strong that many parts of the two vehicles were seriously damaged.
Following the accident, five ambulances and many health workers were mobilised to provide first aid to the victims and transport them to hospitals.
The incident brought traffic to a standstill on Pháp Vân-Cầu Giẽ Expressway for several hours, resulting in long lines carrying on for 10km and leading to difficulties for vehicles travelling on the road. Traffic police are actively navigating traffic flow to ease the congestion.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. — VNS
