HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội’s traffic police have dealt with more than 1,000 violations related to overloaded vehicles and self-modified three-wheeled vehicles between June 9 and 11.
It was part of the city’s plan No 199/KH-CAHN-PV11, approved by the city Police Department, to crack down on overloaded and three-wheeled vehicles in the city, Đào Vịnh Thắng, head of the Hà Nội Traffic Police Office said on Monday .
Overloaded vehicles are believed to affect the city’s infrastructure, damaging many roads. On the other hand, three-wheeled vehicles carrying bulky goods, were leading to traffic accidents, he said.
Thắng said the traffic police were told to punish violations strictly to bring the situation under control. The order came after drivers continued to carry bulky goods on three-wheelers and overload their vehicles, despite several warnings from the city administration asking them to refrain from doing so.
A mobilised police team was established to patrol areas where many violations were happening to directly handle the violations, he said.
Individuals and organisations engaged in the transport business in the city were asked to avoid violations while transporting their goods, he added. — VNS
