HCM CITY — The Center for Science and Technology Development for Youth in HCM City has launched a VNĐ10 billion (US$440,000) programme to support young researchers.

Breeding Ground of Creative Science for Youth will seek out talented young researchers and support development of their products to contribute to the city’s development.

It will help people under 35 who study, work and live in the city complete their research works. If their works have high practical value, they will get a grant of VNĐ100 million ($4,400) and are expected to finish within a year.

The areas to be funded include bio-technology and medicines for humans, animals, fish, plants and foods.

Besides, the researchers are encouraged to address social problems, development requirements of the city’s youth, administrative reforms, urban government models, environmental solutions, social skills for young people, educational models that attract children and youths, and solutions and models for building new rural areas.

Researchers should submit their research topic on or before March 31 to the centre at 1, Phạm Ngọc Thạch Street, Bến Nghé Ward, District 1.

The centre, run by the city’s Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union, has recently organised many activities and programmes, including competitions, to enhance knowledge of science and technology among youths. — VNS
