HÀ NỘI — The International Manpower Development Organisation (IM Japan) on Thursday presented 1,000 wheelchairs to invalids and people with disabilities.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Đào Ngọc Dung highly appreciated IM Japan’s contribution to Việt Nam during the past years, especially in the labour sector.

Minister Dung said the 1,000 wheelchairs would be meaningful presents to invalids and people with disabilities on the occasion of the Tết (Lunar New Year) festival. The festival falls at the end of this month.

Yanagisawa Kyoei, chairman of IM Japan, expressed his hope that the wheelchairs would ease difficulties of invalids and those with disabilities and help them better integrate with the community.

Being the first person to receive the wheelchair, Hoàng Mạnh Thìn, an invalid at the Duy Tiên Invalids Nursing Centre in the northern province of Hà Nam, said he was very moved to receive the gift and felt it was a practical present for him and other invalids. — VNS
